There will be an iPhone without the phone.
I have been (shamefully) sitting online all day, refreshing the Apple website and my RSS feeds for news from today’s Apple event. I haven’t been this anxious since Honda’s relaunch of the Civic in 2005 had me thinking there might be a new CRX. Sigh.
OK, I’m not thrilled about it being flash-based, and the article doesn’t cover all the technical details. There are a few things on my wish list (PDA replacement, GPS/Maps, smart phone tethering) but it’s pretty much a done deal: I must have one even though it’s a “1.0”. The iPhone’s been out long enough that iPod Touch shouldn’t have all many first-release problems.
So back to clicking refresh…

I pre-ordered it. I never pre-order things, but I am completely obsessed; I needto get my hands on one as soon as possible. This looks like the first true hand computer that’s well-designed and not just a laptop shovel-wared into a smaller box.
